"Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2009!"
Here's to the new year and to new beginnings...
Well, another year has come and gone. For many, I know they are either out partying with friends or family to welcome in the new year. Or may be, at your own homes celebrating with those you hold dear to your heart. For my family and I, we are just spending at quiet night home. It is usually that time of year for me when I reflect on the past year and everything that has happened, be it good or bad, and am thankful. Thankful for my family, near and far, for our friends, health and everything we have.

Ok, enough of the mushy stuff and back to business! I had two orders to fill today so was super busy. One was for a birthday...

and the other was for an anniversary celebration...

I'm suppose to make another slide show of some of the designs I've done so far but I'm tired and am sleepy so I'll do it tomorrow. Can't keep my eyes open any no longer to welcome in the new year...yawnnnn! So again, "Happy New Year" everyone!

Smiley face n two-tone swirls

I made this for a good friend of ours who celebrated his birthday on the 16th Dec. Once again my ever efficient assistants,i.e my daughters, were only too happy to help me out.
As it was for their Uncle Luis, they suggested that I make smiley
faces as they remind them of him! Was only too happy to oblige!(Luis if you're reading this, I can hear you belly laughing!!!)

Also tried out a new design, the two-tone swirls and they came out pretty nice. After adding sprinkles to them my girls said they remind them of ice cream swirls.

So, once again, Happy Birthday Luis! Hope you enjoyed the mini cupcakes!

Colour theme

I made these mini cupcakes for a friend of mine whose children were celebrating Children's Day at their school before the school holidays began. Her son had chosen a red and white theme while her daughter chose pink and violet as they were her favourite colours.
Thanks, Hazel, for all your support!
A box of mini cupcakes like this cost B$20 and holds 49minis. Flavours, colours, theme, wordings, decorations and such can be discussed when placing your orders.

Birthday shout-outs!

The other day I made these cupcakes for my brother-in-law whose birthday falls on the same day as my Mum and sister's daughter. Earlier that morning, my youngest boy, Jeff, crawled into bed with me and said to me,"Mummy want go downstairs. Mummy make cupcakes karang for Tuah laki." Waking up to such sweet sounds would make anyone want to get out of bed and get an early start!

So just want to shout out "Happy Birthday!" again to my Mum all the way in LA, I love you and miss you very much. And "Happy Birthday!" to my brother-in-law and niece, Tin-tin.

Cookies & Cream mini cupcakes

Being a mum to four kids and working part time, whenever I have orders to fill I'm usually under time constraints. But thankfully I have two very efficient helpers. My daughters! Though they are just 12years and 10 years old, they love helping Mummy in the kitchen. So when I started this little venture they were very both excited and happy and told all their friends about it. In fact, quiet a few of the orders that we've had to fill were from their friends! And it's because of them that I decided to try a new Cookies & Cream cupcake recipe and they came out pretty nice.

My twins boys love them for two simple reasons: they're cupcakes and they have Oreo cookies in them!!!

My new little venture

Hi to all!

My very first post and am kinda having a writing block already! Don't know what to blog about! Well, that's not a bit of a lie as this blog is for my new venture. I've just recently started selling my cupcakes to friends and family and many of them have been asking if I have a blog already. With the help of my sweet hubby(who is currently nursing a fractured foot that has to be in a cast for 3 weeks!!! Love you, Sayang!), we've started this little blog to spread the word to others about my little venture.

As the blog title denotes the name of my bakery is SugarCane Bakery. For now my just doing it from home. It all began during our Raya open house when I baked some cupcakes for my hubby's birthday. It was a double celebration for Hari Raya and my hubby's birthday which was the following day. When my nieces and nephews had a taste of the cupcakes they all kept asking me how much I was selling them. At first I just laughed it off but as the day went on other people kept asking and I eventually had to answer them that I would get back to them with the prices!

Then two weeks later my niece calls and asks me for the prices and I was stumped! Told her I'd get back to her within the day and then quickly rushed off to do some quick calculations. After a little chat with my hubby we came up with the some prices for the cupcakes. And from there, the rest, they say, is history! My niece was my very first customer and her order was pretty big too as it was also for a double celebration, Raya and birthday of an office mate. Below are some photos of my first orders.
